How can anyone hope, to be able to make, any type of significant difference, for the better, unless/ until, he is ready, willing, and able to learn from every conversations, personal experience, and both, the best, and worst moves/ strategies/ actions, of those, so – called, leaders, who preceded him? Doesn’t it make sense, a real leader must consistently, learn, and improve, because of what he discovers, from the LIFE lessons? After, over four decades of personal involvement, in, nearly, everything, related to effectively leading, from identifying and qualifying, to training, developing, and consulting to well over a thousand, actual, and/ or, potential leaders, I seek to make effective leadership, make more sense, by conforming to the essentials of common sense, and explaining the strategies, planning, and actions, in ways, people can understand, and use. With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it matters.
1. Listen; learn; lessons; leadership; love what he does: A great leader must, consistently, effectively, listen and learn, from every conversation and experience, in order to gain necessary knowledge, expertise, judgment, and, hopefully, relevant wisdom! When he takes these lessons, seriously, he makes the potential for superior leadership, far – better! One intangible, perhaps, is whether, any potential leader, will, truly, enjoy and love what he will be doing (in terms of his personal leadership, etc)!
2. Integrity; imagination; insights; intellect; ideas; ideals/ ideology: One must proceed, with absolute integrity, especially, when it may not be convenient, if he wishes, to make a difference, for the better! A well – developed, relevant imagination, significant intellect, etc, will assist, proceeding with meaningful insights, and quality ideas! When these align, with quality ideals, and the specific ideology, of the organization, we begin to approach, the possibilities, of, A Star is Born!
3. Face facts; furnish; fruition; fate: No one benefits, when one proceeds, with rose – colored glasses, instead of a willingness to face the facts! It is incumbent – upon the finest leaders, to furnish a path, bring it to fruition, and help, make the group, a master, of its own fate!
4. Empathy; emphasis; excellence; endurance; efforts; enrich: A high degree of genuine empathy, must create an emphasis, on creating, a system, which enriches, all – involved! Great leaders must, consistently, demand their utmost degree of genuine excellence, and have the persistence, and endurance, to move forward, when other, may, give – up!
If you want to be a real leader, you must be ready, willing, and able, to constantly, consistently, learn from LIFE lessons, and become the best, you can be! Are you up to the tasks and responsibilities?
